Have you tried the Troubleshooter to see what it finds? Open the Playing Audio troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Have you looked at the BIOS to see if there's a setting for internal speakers/sound or anything related to sound? Try this too please if the above doesn't work: Go to: page and download: 'Panasonic Common Components Application' and 'Hotkey Appendix Application' (and any other drivers you don't have / need / etc). Both of the above mentioned ones after being downloaded and executed will dump setup files to: C: util2 pcommon C: util2 hkeyapp Run the setup.exe in pcommon first as it doesn't require a restart, then run the setup.exe in hkeyapp.

Once done, please restart the PC and give us an update. Edited by chrisd87, 05 September 2013 - 02:51 PM. This should be easier than messing with the control panel. If you click start-type in troubleshoot or start typing it, windows will automatically start to fill it in.

Click Troubleshooting up top. When it launches then click hardware and sound.

Then from there, you can continue on. If you tried to do it using the control panel, as soon as you launch it, up top you will see a search box in the right corner. You would type troubleshoot in the search box.

Edited by chrisd87, 09 September 2013 - 11:45 AM. Ok since this is XP, have you checked the BIOS under the integrated peripherals section to see if it's enabled? Sorry for all the confusion, I was under the impression this was Windows 7. Have you tried holding the ftn key down and pressing F4?

Also try holding down the ftn key and keep pressing F6 to turn the volume up. If you can also provide the model version of the cf-52, I'll help you find the correct drivers.This is also from the Panasonic Support. For Win XP / Windows 7: 1. Go into 'device manager - view device by connections - ACPI based PC/ ACPI x86 - Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System- Hotkey Driver for Panasonic PC. Right click on it and remove it) DO NOT REBOOT YET 2. Go into Control Panel, 'add/remove programs','Programs and Features' to verify that the two main programs needed to insure the hotkeys would work are installed. Those are the 'Hotkey Appendix, and Hotkey Setting Application.

Uninstall The Hotkey Appendix, Settings programs, reboot the laptop only after the last program has been uninstalled 4. Upon reboot, at the Panasonic screen, press F2 to go into the BIOS and default the settings.

To default BIOS: 1. Reboot / power on the laptop and at the Panasonic screen, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS / Setup. Once inside the BIOS / Setup, press F9.

A window will appear asking if you want to 'Load default configuration now?' Make sure 'yes is highlighted and press the enter key 3. Now, press F10 and a window will appear asking if you want to 'Save configuration changes and exit now?' Make sure 'yes is highlighted and press the enter key. When the laptop was rebooted back into the OS, reload the hotkey components in the following order.1. Hotkey Appendix., 2. Hotkey Settings application.

Reboot the laptop after each components has been installed. 6, Manuever to the C: UTIL folder and locate the below highlighted folders and run the executable.

Hotkey Appendix Utility c: util2 hkeyapp. Executing 'setup.exe'. After the program installs, reboot the laptop. Once back into the OS, 7. Manuever to the C: UTIL folder and locate the below highlighted folders and run the executable.

Hotkey Setting Utility c: util2 hkeyset. Executing 'setup.exe' 8. After the program installs, reboot the laptop, Once they have been reloaded, reboot the unit and then test the FN+F6 to see if the icon appears and then, check the sound.Hotkey Driver - This should install automatically once the Hotkey Appendix Utility is installed. If the sounds does ot work, then the Hotkey Drivers will have to be manually installed.
