Dave, Although Dragon Medical 12/ Dragon Medical Practice 2 and below will run on Windows XP, we recommend Windows 7/8 64-bit and minimally8 Gb of RAM. I recommend rerunning the Audio Check for your Dictaphone PowerMic II and pressing the Play button in the last stage to listen for possible interference.

Hopefully, you are not using an upgraded profile because combining older technology with newer technology typically creates a bloated and lethargic profile that can perform sluggishly.
